Here Are the Minnesota Breweries That Have Opened Their Patios for Outdoor Service This Winter

This past weekend, Minnesota restaurants, bars and breweries were allowed to open their patios and outdoor spaces for outdoor service at 50% capacity.

While the idea of dining outside in a Minnesota winter seems asinine (even to many Minnesotans), the ability to do so is something Minnesota breweries fought for during the latest COVID-related shutdown. While certainly not ideal — and admittedly not a win for Minnesota restaurants — the Governor agreed, giving Minnesota craft beer enthusiasts an opportunity to prove their dedication to life in the Bold North. Thanks to a blessedly mild December so far, it seems Minnesotans may actually get to enjoy a pint outdoors, too!

For those looking for a brewery with an open patio or outdoor space nearby, here is a working list (with some crowdsourcing from our friends ILoveBeerFromHere and others) in numerical/alphabetical order:

3rd Act Brewing — Woodbury

3rd Act Brewing’s patio is open now. Reservations are not required but will be taken.

10K Brewing — Anoka

They may only be a few tables out front, but 10K Brewing is offering outdoor service on a first come first serve basis.

56 Brewing Co — Minneapolis

Besides opening their patio and warming it with bonfires and heaters, 56 Brewing is heating things up with a cool deal — the colder the temperature, the cheaper the price of your beer!

Alloy Brewing Company — Coon Rapids

Alloy Brewing’s patio is open now. Tables are available on a first come first serve basis; patio heaters will be present, but warm clothes and extra blankets are encouraged!

Badger Hill Brewing Company — Shakopee

Badger Hill Brewing has broken out the heaters for outdoor seating at 50% capacity!

Bad Weather Brewing — St. Paul

Bad Weather’s patio is available for walk-up reservations; crowler orders and pickups continue as normal.

Bald Man Brewing Company — Eagan

Bald Man Brewing’s patio is open, and they’ve even brought back BOGO pints for Manic Mondays!

Bauhaus Brew Labs — Minneapolis

Drinking pints on the patio is a thing again at Bauhaus Brew Labs! Tables are available for walk-up reservations only and limited to four people.

Bent Brewstillery — Roseville

Bent Brewstillery’s heated patio is open now!

Big Axe Brewery — Nisswa

The patio awaits you at Big Axe Brewery!

Birch’s on the Lake — Long Lake

Enjoy the (frozen) lake from the heated patio at Birch’s on the Lake! Drink service available but no food outdoors. No reservations required.

Boom Island Brewing Company — Minnetonka

Boom Island’s patio is open now! Seating restricted to four people per table, first come first serve.

Broken Clock Brewing Company — Minneapolis

Broken Clock has added several fire pits to their patio; reservations are required and may not exceed four people.

Chapel Brewing — Dundas

Chapel Brewing’s patio and tent is open now!

Copper Trail Brewery Company — Alexandria

Dress warm and enjoy a pint just up the road from Ole the Viking at Copper Trail Brewing in Alexandria!

Day Block Brewing Company — Minneapolis

Day Block Brewing Co. announced that they’ll be taking two weeks off for the holidays but will be opening their patio for outdoor service after January 6.

Elm Creek Brewery — Champlin

Champlin’s first craft brewery’s patio is open for service! No reservations required.

Fair State Brewing Coop — Minneapolis

Fair State announced on social media that they’ll be opening their beer garden the day after Christmas, December 26. Reservations will be required.

Fat Pants Brewing Company — Eden Prairie

Four fire pits to accommodate up to six people will be available to reserve at the door; additional tables and heaters will be available as well.

Fergus Brewing Company — Fergus Falls

Weather you’re naughty or nice, Christmas came early this year, and Fergus Brewing’s patio is open for outdoor drinking!

Forgotten Star Brewing Co — Fridley

Forgotten Star’s outdoor patio is open for reservations now, and their ice rink will be ready January 1!

Fulton Beer — Minneapolis

Fulton’s Minneapolis patio is open with limited space.

Giesenbrau Bier Company — New Prague

Giesenbrau’s beer garden is open for outdoor service!

Goat Ridge Brewing Company — New London

Goat Ridge has the fire pit and the beer, you just have to provide the blankets!

Gunflint Tavern — Grand Marais

Gun Flint Tavern is open for outdoor service, including food! There may be heaters by the tables, but keep in mind — this is Grand Marais, so come prepared for the cold still.

Hayes’ Public House — Buffalo

Hayes’ Public House in Buffalo is stocked up on firewood and beer for pints by the firepit!

Headflyer Brewing — Minneapolis

Headflyer’s heated patio is open now!

Inbound BrewCo. — Minneapolis

Inbound Brewing will be heating up just four outdoor tables, so cross your fingers and hope you get one!

Indeed Brewing Co. — Minneapolis

Indeed Brewing has been turned into a magical winter Beerland complete with heated outdoor patio for fireside pints.

Invictus Brewing Co. — Blaine

Invictus has opened their patio and added some space heaters for as warm an outdoor drinking experience as anyone could hope for. Walk-up reservations taken, though no one under 21 is allowed.

Island City Brewing Company — Winona

Island City’s outdoor space is open and ready for outdoor pints!

Jack Pine Brewery — Baxter

Jack Pine’s patio is open; reservations are required.

Kinney Creek Brewery — Rochester

Bundle up and enjoy a cold pint outside at Kinney Creek Brewery in Rochester!

Klockow Brewing Company — Grand Rapids

BYOC (Bring Your Own Chair) to Klockow Brewing! Their patio will be available with limited table space for pints by the fire pit Friday-Sunday; you’re also welcome to hang around for a drink outdoors the rest of the week, but you’ll have to provide your own chair.

Lake Monster Brewing Company — St. Paul

Lake Monster Brewing has gone all out with tent heaters, fire tables, wood fires and standing heaters. They require reservations for parties of no more than four.

Little Thistle Brewing — Rochester

Hours are very limited and selective. Keep watching Little Thistle’s social media or call ahead to find out for sure.

Lupulin Brewing Co. — Big Lake

Outdoor seating is limited, walk-up only (no reservations), 90-minute limit for parties of 4 or less, masks are required. If you can follow the rules, Lupulin’s outdoor patio space is open and ready for you!

Minneapolis Cider Co.’s patio is open for in-person service, and pickleball courts can also be reserved!

Not only is Moose Lake’s patio open, but they’re offering free s’mores to everyone who buys a pint!

Northbound Smokehouse — Minneapolis

Northbound took to social media to say that their patio is open for outdoor service, but drinks only; they won’t be serving food. They’re also requiring reservations for parties no more than four.

Space heaters are on full blast, and a fire’s in the fire pit at Pig Ate My Pizza’s patio!

Pryes Brewing Company — Minneapolis

Join Pryes Brewing for a pint and pizza on the patio then crowlers to take home for later!

Rapids Brewing Co. — Grand Rapids

Not only is Rapids Brewing’s patio open, but they released a wood fire toasted coconut stout to celebrate!

Revel Brewing — Park Rapids

Roma Restaurant & Brewery — Willernie

It’s hard to tell what all’s happening at Roma Pizza & Brewery, but based on the photo they posted to social media and plethora of hashtags — their patio’s open!

Roundhouse Brewery — Nisswa

Blaze orange, camo, snowsuits and basically anything warm is encouraged while enjoying a pint at Roundhouse’s patio.

Rustech Brewing Company — Monticello

Grab your coats, grab you boots, grab you hats and gloves, grab a beer, and grab a seat. Heaters are limited.

Schram Haus Brewery — Chaska

Bundle up and grab a table for four for a pint on Schram Haus’ outdoor patio!

Sociable Cider Werks — Minneapolis

Fire pits are blazing and pints are pouring at Sociable Cider Werks. Reservations for parties up to four can be made in advance.

Steel Toe Brewing — St. Louis Park

Steel Toe’s patio is available with very limited seating. Reservations are not required, kids are welcome. There are no heaters, so bundle up!

Thousand Lakes Brewing Co. — Parkers Prairie

With a pile of wood to burn through, patio heaters and even a windblock, Thousand Lake’s patio isn’t too shabby a place for an outdoor beer in a Minnesota winter!

Torg Brewery — Spring Lake Park

While their social media doesn’t yet indicate it, Torg’s website says their patio is open for outdoor drinking.

Urban Growler Brewing Company — St. Paul

Urban Growler’s outdoor beer garden is open! Food and drinks can be ordered online or by phone.

Ursa Minor Brewing — Duluth

Wood-pellet heaters and wood-fire pizzas are both going at Ursa Minor. It’s still Duluth, though, so dress warm(er).

Utepils Brewing — Minneapolis

Bundle up, grab some friends and enjoy the fresh air and a cold pint at Utepils’ outdoor beer garden! Reservations are not required and are on a first come first serve basis.

Wabasha Brewing Company — St. Paul
