With Valentine’s Day on the way, we thought it would be fun to put together a list of some of the most romantic beers around Minnesota to celebrate your February 14th with! Whether your valentine this year is your dog, best friend or S.O., we think celebrating with a local beer is the way to go.
Compiled with help from some friends, check out five of the most romantic beers to come out of Minnesota:
1. Wooden Soul: Cherry Dust – Indeed Brewing Co.
“Our wood-aged sour ale with cherries boasts with flavors of tart cherry, carob, and amaretto,” Indeed Brewing’s Erica told us. “Like love, it’s unpredictable, sometimes tart but never has a dull moment. Available in 750mL bottles for bottle service or to-go in our taproom, as well as around town on draft.”
Bonus: If you really like this one, you can watch for it in cans come April!
2. George Hunter Stout – Castle Danger Brewing Co.
If you have a “type,” Castle Danger Brewing’s George Hunter Stout might be for you.
“Some people go for tall, dark, and handsome. We prefer stout, rich, and dangerously good. Our George Hunter Stout is the perfect beer companion for your Valentine’s Day plans.” — Maddy, Castle Danger Brewing
3. Sexy Beach – 56 Brewing
Kelis’s milkshake may bring all the boys to the yard, but 56 Brewing‘s Sexy Beach Milkshake IPA brings all the boys and girls into the taproom!
Brewed with malted oats, lactose, coconut, vanilla and pureed pineapple and clocking in at 7.8 ABV, Sexy Beach will have you breaking out your favorite Hawaiian shirt for a much-needed tropical date night in a Minnesota February.
4. Wildberry Milkshake Sour – Inbound BrewCo
You may remember Inbound BrewCo’s purple crowlers of Wildberry Milkshake Sour from when it was first released September 2018. Well, it was so popular, it’s back just in time for Valentine’s Day!
Wildberry Milkshake Sour is the second seasonal 4-pack can release (did you try the previously released Peanut Butter Butter Milk stout?!) and the first iteration of the Pastry Ale series — a collection of beers inspired by the display case at your favorite bakery: sweet, tart, and sometimes à la mode.
“The beer starts with our traditional Gose style sour ale, which is tart and fruity with refreshing, bright flavors that compliment the sour kick you get with each sip,” says Inbound Brewco’s marketer Katelyn. “We fruited it with raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries then added lactose and vanilla to transform it into a sweet milkshake. It tastes a bit like ordering your pie à la mode. It’s crushable, shareable, and refreshingly unique.”
So, basically, Valentine’s Day dessert, right?!
Special shout out to Michael Byzewski of Aesthetic Apparatus in Minneapolis for designing the can artwork!
5. Shoreline Saison — 612Brew
There are few things more romantic than a picnic at the Eiffel Tower in France (we know — we’ve done it!), but 612Brew‘s French Style Farmhouse Ale Shoreline Saison may come close!
Brewed with Pilsen and Rye, hopped with German Magnum, Mt. Hood, and Minnesota-grown Triple Perle from Mighty Axe Hops, Shoreline Saison’s fruity, peppery and dry finish is sure to spice up your Valentine’s Day!
