Shirts on Tap: The Beer Club for Your Closet

“Katie, we have too many brewery shirts!”

Over recent months, I’ve noticed that it’s been getting harder and harder to shut my dresser drawers, probably due to the ever-growing stacks of brewery shirts we’ve accumulated. What can we say — we like supporting the craft beer community, and wearing apparel is an easy and comfortable way to do it!

In the past year of beer blogging, we’ve picked up our fair share of brewery or beer-related apparel; from shirts to hoodies to hats we could easily go an entire week each wearing items that rep some brewery or beer brand. So stumbling across Shirts on Tap was a problem. A good problem, of course.

You’re probably familiar with the beer club concept where, for a subscription fee, a company ships a monthly package of specially hand-picked beers to your door. Shirts on Tap does the same thing, except instead of beer they mail you a box featuring a specially customized brewery t-shirt, bio, stickers, member perks and more. They’re currently partnered with breweries in San Diego, Denver, Portland, Chicago, Dallas, and Seattle and each month will ship out a box featuring a brewery from a city of your choice. If you live in one of those cities, it’s a cool way to rep your favorite local breweries; if you’re not — like us — then it’s a great way to discover great craft breweries around the country. Either way, the gear is specially customized by Shirts on Top and is stuff you won’t find anywhere else (even in the brewery’s taproom)!

Shirts on Tap is totally customizable, allowing you to change details of your subscription month-to-month like city of choice, shirt size, style of shirt, and placement of the logo on the front or back. With this in mind we chose a medium-sized, female, light cotton, logo-on-the-front t-shirt featuring a Portland brewery for Katie and medium, male, light cotton, logo-on-the-back t-shirt featuring a Chicago brewery for Adam.

Katie’s first box featured Little Beast Brewing from Portland. Little Beast Brewing, according to the bio that came with, is the realization of Charles Porter and Brenda Crow, who met over a mutual love of beer and food; was founded in 2015 and specializes in wild, barrel-aged and blended farmhouse style ales; and is located in an old Portland home with a cozy little beer garden attached. Two member perks — one for Half Off a Pint for You and a Friend and a second for Buy a Flight, Get a Free Little Beast Pin — came with.

Adam’s box featured Empirical Brewery out of Chicago. Named after their process — empirical observations to improve beer — the brewers are nothing short of nerds. According to the bio, their brewing equipment are named after Star Wars planets, and three resident brewery cats are named after Ghostbusters. A member perk for a free flight of choice came with the box.
