Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the metro suburbs, Big Lake is a charming town that boasts rapid growth, numerous natural amenities and an excellent labor force. You will also find a family run microbrewery and taproom with strong ties to the community.

Lupulin Brewing Company boasts one of the more brassy slogans we’ve come across – “Work Sucks, Drink Beer.” They’ve got a thing for funny-named beer, too – with titles like “Blissful Ignorance,” “Hooey,” “Straight Hash Homie,” Sexy Hops #1″ “Barrel God” and “Unholy Confessions,” Lupulin is almost worth the visit just for the fun of ordering your drink! Just know that most of their beers (on tap lately, anyways) are hoppy and bitter – currently, 8 of their 9 beers are ales (5 are IPA’s), and 6 of the 9 have IBU’s over 30. If that’s what you’re into, you’ll love this place. Our particular taste buds prefer fruity (Katie) or malty (Adam) beers, so options are pretty limited. On Sunday’s they do feature a rotating fusion, so that’s pretty cool.

As far as location, Lupulin Brewing is located just off Highway 10 and sits on the corner of a sort-of strip mall. It’s easy to miss if you don’t know where you’re looking. Once inside, Lupulin has a sort-of home-town Americana meets sports bar vibe; a food truck is often outside.

Lupulin does host an impressive calendar of events, including food trucks, craft fairs, holiday events and concerts. EVEN an open mic night! I haven’t encountered many breweries that do this… definitely a highlight for me being a musician! Plus, performers get a free pint! #motivation
Look! Here I am at Open Mic Night!
